Pastoral Services
At Sønderborg Free Church, we share life’s big moments together. Here you can read more about what these occasions look like in our church – and you are always welcome to contact us if you would like to know more.
Childs blessing
As a church, we stand together to bless the little children, just as Jesus taught us. We also take time to pray for the family. A child blessing usually takes place within the child’s first year of life.
Youth blessing
Each year, we offer teaching for young people in 7th grade who wish to receive a youth blessing. At the same time, there is a national teaching camp held during week 42, which we encourage the youth to take part in.The Youth Blessing Service is celebrated in the church on the third Sunday after Easter.
Baptism
At Sønderborg Free Church, we practice believer’s baptism. Anyone who has a personal faith in Jesus and desires to live a life that points to Him can be baptized here.Teaching is offered in preparation for baptism. Baptism takes place by full immersion, symbolizing being buried with Jesus and rising with Him to a new life.
Wedding
At Sønderborg Free Church, we are authorized to conduct weddings with civil validity.
This requires membership of the church and that the couple regards Sønderborg Free Church as their spiritual home.
Funerals
Funerals and memorial services can be held from Sønderborg Free Church. The services are conducted by the church’s pastors. As a free church, we do not have our own cemetery, so the burial will take place at a cemetery chosen by the family or the deceased.
